Electronic timing for trail races
Trail race timing
Limetime electronic timing equipment is suitable for organizing trail races even on the most challenging and remote courses.
It is designed for events with several thousand participants.
Typically, time is recorded from the mass start to crossing the finish line, as well as at intermediate checkpoint stations (when available).
Required equipment
Trail race is one type of sport where any equipment combination works. You can use a stationary decoder or a lightweight timing gun.
The signal from the tag does not pass through a person's body. Therefore, if you're planning a tight finish with many participants, you should use floor antennas: they provide direct line of sight between the tag and antenna.

Course configuration
Loop course
Participants start and finish in the same location and can complete one or multiple laps. If there are several distances, each can be a loop but of different lengths.
On opposite sections of the course, you can place volunteers who will record the bibs of passing athletes using a mobile app.
Course configuration
Point-to-point course
Start and finish are located in different places. Typically, there's a mass start, and one official is sufficient for organization: time starts simultaneously for all participants.
For organizing intermediate checkpoints, it's convenient to use volunteers with mobile apps. When a participant passes a checkpoint, the volunteer enters their bib number into the app, which automatically records the passage time.
At the finish, you can use side antennas and floor antennas. For a tight finish where more than 3 people may run through simultaneously, floor antennas should be preferred.
