What is manual judging?

Manual judging – reliable addition to timing equipment

Additional checkpoint locations

Organizers can place additional timing points on the course staffed by volunteers with mobile phones.

Disqualification, DNF

Manual judging allows one-click recording of participant disqualifications and DNFs.

Manual judging + automatic timing

Everywhere paper protocols were used, electronic ones can now be maintained.

Controlled start

For individual starts, it's very convenient to start participants manually by entering their bib number and simultaneously giving the start command. This is more convenient because the start is fully under the judge's control.

For small races

For races of about 100 people, all timing can be done with manual reads, without equipment, but using all platform capabilities.

Penalty seconds

A judge can at any time make one or more entries where they add or subtract time from a participant by entering the bib number and penalty seconds.

Multiple judges at one point

Manual judging allows multiple judges or volunteers to work at the same point simultaneously, backing up and complementing each other.

Testing race settings

Before the race, you can test settings by simulating participant reads.

Limetime manual judging: modern approach to traditional methods

Judging with pen and paper vs. using Limetime

Classic manual judging

Volunteers record results on paper, need to create summary table

Each volunteer has their own list, need to combine data from all sheets

In the moment, hard to find records related to specific participant

High probability of recording errors

Limetime judging

Electronic participant list is always up-to-date

System tracks which judges recorded results

Easy to see all records for each individual participant

Results calculation happens instantly and automatically

Manual judging

Manual judging on Limetime platform is universal

Use manual judging as the primary method for recording results at small races. You'll no longer need equipment and a team of timekeepers. If you organize large races, combine manual judging with automatic equipment. You can install equipment only at start and finish lines, and record intermediate results manually.

Manual judging is a reliable backup method to equipment. The system ensures high accuracy of results that practically matches automatic timing.

Volunteers and judges

Work of volunteers and judges

Assign judges yourself or invite volunteers using a link or QR code. Judges will be able to quickly respond to non-standard participant actions, intervene promptly and make corrections.

Personal interaction between judges and participants creates a unique atmosphere where people feel support and significance. The event becomes more lively for spectators, which increases their engagement in the process and enhances the overall experience.

Penalties

Penalty points, penalty time

Manual judging is indispensable in disputed situations. Judges promptly record violations and make objective decisions, assigning penalty time or points depending on the situation.

The Limetime platform has a separate section for penalties. Judges manually record decisions, and the system automatically accounts for this in the final result.

Race simulation

Testing race settings

The manual judging function allows testing any race settings by setting arbitrary timing reads. Simulation of real participant reads allows avoiding errors during competitions.

Before competition, you can set start, intermediate checkpoint and finish reads to check how results are recorded for real participants who will participate in the race.

We tried to consider everything you might need during race preparation and execution. This has already been tested at 2,000 competitions by hundreds of organizers
